Thank you for inviting me to see your presentation on Tuesday. The material was very intriguing: full of things to think about.

As I mentioned in our discussion afterwards, the aspect that draw me in to the thesis was the level of academic intervention as being essential to the online community of any academic department. That is, you have to get people to participate in the technology as much as you would have to get them to participate in the classroom.

Is the online community therefore irrelevant? Well, no, the primary advantage of the online web space is that it is both another avenue of classroom discussion and also creates a record that students and instructors can go back to and reflect upon.

I'm not as certain as to the feasibility of a continual or perpetual online community. Right now, web based classroom activities are restricted to the length of the class. I am not certain how feasible a fully academic online community is or the benefits that would be reaped. Would you care to explicate?
